Volunteer Rights

· Be respected and listened to by the Dress for Success team, and kept informed about organizational policy, procedures, people, and programs.

· Have a clear understanding of job expectations including duties, responsibilities, organizational structure, and time commitment.

· Be provided guidance, direction, orientation, continued training, support, and evaluation.

· Be treated as a valued person who can make a unique contribution.

· Participate in the evaluation of own performance and evaluation of the volunteer program itself.

· Be given leadership opportunities, a variety of experiences, and have volunteer time managed wisely.

· Have safe working conditions and have any possible risks explained.

· Be recognized regularly through expressions of appreciation.

· Be able to freely discuss problems, ask questions, or make suggestions.

· Receive an employment suiting if desired during volunteer onboarding.

Volunteer Responsibilities

I understand that I am required to fully sign in and out using Civic Champs each time I volunteer. This includes in-person and virtual opportunities. I understand that if I cannot log the time myself I can ask a member of staff to help me.

I agree to maintain the dignity and integrity of community service through dress, language, and demeanor at all times while representing Dress for Success Pittsburgh.

I understand that volunteers will not receive monetary compensation from Dress for Success Pittsburgh or be permitted to take anything in lieu of monetary payment for their contribution of time, including but not limited to the intellectual property and physical property of Dress for Success Pittsburgh.

I agree to learn about and uphold Dress for Success Pittsburgh policies and programs and participate in orientations, training programs, and meetings as needed to perform my volunteer duties. I agree to speak up about problems or concerns so that they may be discussed and resolved, and I will ask questions about things I do not understand clearly.

I understand the accountability of volunteers and I agree to maintain cooperative working relationships and stay within the bounds of volunteer authority and responsibility. I agree to abide by all written and verbal agreements and to accept the guidance and direction of the Volunteer Manager or other team member supervising.

I agree to complete assignments in a prompt, reliable, and professional manner. I agree to notify staff in a timely manner if it is not possible to meet a commitment as planned or if I want to change or end my position with Dress for Success Pittsburgh.

I understand that I must be alert, sober, and drug-free while volunteering or representing Dress for Success Pittsburgh in any manner.

Anti-Discrimination Policy

I understand that Dress for Success Pittsburgh prohibits discrimination against interns, staff, volunteers, and participants based on any legally protected classification such as race, color, religion, sex, national orientation, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, ancestry, gender, or any other characteristic protected by law.

I understand that Dress for Success Pittsburgh serves clients from a diverse range of backgrounds and lifestyles and that all people who pass through our doors are to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, sex, gender, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation and identity. I understand that volunteers must adhere to this strict non-discrimination policy at all times while representing Dress for Success Pittsburgh.

I understand that while all clients of Dress for Success Pittsburgh are free and encouraged to practice their own religious and spiritual beliefs, it is never appropriate to preach, evangelize, read scripture, or distribute materials religious in nature while volunteering.

Anti-Theft Policy

I understand that volunteers are prohibited from taking donated clothing or other items for their personal use, other than during a scheduled employment suiting. I understand that Dress for Success Pittsburgh has a zero-tolerance policy regarding theft and dishonesty. All donations received, are solely to benefit our clients. Under no circumstances may a volunteer take donated items, including items placed in Goodwill bins.

Confidentiality

I agree to keep confidential all information pertaining to Dress for Success Pittsburgh and the clients served by the organization. I will only discuss pertinent information with the assigned Dress for Success Pittsburgh staff. Dress for Success Pittsburgh volunteers must inform their direct supervisor of any information disclosed by clients that may suggest personal danger to the client, referring agencies, or employers.
